Amelia Jabry aims to strengthen alumni connections and create opportunities for engagement worldwide.
We are delighted to announce Amelia Jabry as the new Alumni Association President for Lucy Cavendish College. A passionate advocate for building connections, Amelia brings her vibrant energy and deep love for the Lucy Cavendish community to this role.
A message from Amelia:
“Hey everyone, I’m Amelia, your new Alumni President.
I completed my MPhil in Sociology at Lucy Cavendish in 2020, focusing on algorithms and the environment. During my time at Lucy, I developed a strong connection with the college and became the Vice President of the Lucy Student Union (now the MCR and JCR). I also organised COVID-safe events like cocktail classes and virtual games nights. Afterward, I served as a sabbatical officer for Cambridge Student Union, and now I work in film and TV production – definitely putting that master’s degree to good use!
Lucy Cavendish is an incredible, and arguably the friendliest, college in Cambridge, known for its vibrant community of sports, music, and literature enthusiasts. I loved getting involved with the social opportunities the University had to offer, from playing rugby, captaining Lucy's University Challenge team, to joining the not-so-secret assassins guild, so I understand how crucial a social network is. This sense of community doesn’t have to end once you graduate. As Alumni President, I’m excited to work on several initiatives to keep our connections strong, such as creating more events wherever you are, establishing and expanding our interest groups so you can bond over things you loved at Lucy (e.g., rowing), and offering and facilitating networking opportunities.
I’m really looking forward to meeting the alumni community!”
