Kei Moshikaro (MSt Sustainability Leadership) on her educational experience and why it is important to support current and future students.

My name is a Kei Moshikaro and I am a MSt in Sustainability Leadership student Lucy Cavendish College.

My journey into the programme began with a deep-rooted interest in understanding and addressing the complex environmental and societal challenges our world faces today. I embarked on this path to gain a comprehensive understanding of sustainable practices, environmental conservation, and the interplay between human activities and the planet's well-being.

The scholarship I received was a significant milestone in my pursuit of sustainability studies. It provided financial support and validated my dedication to this field of study. The impact has been profound. On an academic level, I've gained a broader perspective on the interconnectedness of environmental, social, and economic systems. I've been exposed to various frameworks and strategies for sustainable development, which have equipped me with the tools to analyse complex problems and propose viable solutions.

Beyond academics, my studies have influenced my lifestyle choices and personal values. I've become more conscious of my environmental footprint and have deliberately tried to adopt more sustainable practices in my daily life. Whether reducing waste, conserving energy, or supporting eco-friendly products, I'm continually inspired to align my actions with the principles I've learned.

Moreover, the scholarship has opened doors to networking opportunities and collaborations with like-minded individuals. I've had the privilege of connecting with professors, researchers, and fellow students with a passion for sustainability. These connections have expanded my horizons and allowed me to engage in meaningful discussions, share ideas, and work together on projects to make a positive impact.

I am exposed to a rigorous and intellectually stimulating academic environment at Lucy Cavendish College that encourages critical thinking, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The college's commitment to diversity and inclusivity allowed me to engage with individuals from various backgrounds and perspectives. This exposure enriched my understanding of global issues and equipped me with the skills to approach complex challenges from multiple angles.

The supportive and nurturing community at Lucy Cavendish College fostered an environment where I could explore my interests, cultivate leadership skills, and refine my academic pursuits. The mentorship provided by professors and fellow students alike guided me in honing my strengths and identifying areas for growth.

One of the most empowering aspects of my time at Lucy Cavendish is the emphasis on empowering individuals to excel in their chosen fields and instil a strong sense of agency to respond to the pressing global challenges of climate change, social inequality, and technological advancement.

My ambitions to positively impact the world are rooted in my experiences at Lucy Cavendish College. With a comprehensive education and a network of like-minded individuals, I aspire to contribute to sustainable development, promote social justice, and drive innovation. Through research, advocacy, or collaborative projects, I aim to catalyse positive change in the areas that align with my passions and expertise.

The combination of diversity, support, academic excellence, empowerment, and community engagement creates an environment where individuals can thrive academically, personally, and socially, all while preparing to make meaningful contributions to the world around them.

Supporting more students to study at Cambridge University fosters diversity, nurtures talent, addresses global challenges, and creates a more inclusive and equitable society. It's an investment in the future of education, research, and positive change.
