At Lucy Cavendish, we are committed to supporting the world’s brightest minds committed to making a positive impact on humankind and our planet. And we are passionate about leading the way in college climate action.
To help us raise the profile of sustainability, you are invited to walk, wheelchair, swim, row, run or cycle alongside the Lucy community across the world to help us reach our collective goal of 6,490km. It's really easy to take part, whether you cycle to work or go for a morning walk - every few metres counts!
And the best part is, if we reach our target goal by 15 October, we'll unlock £2,500 in support of Lucy's Festival of Giving!
How do I take part?
It’s very easy to join the fun and help raise money for Lucy Cavendish College. To take part:
- Set your challenge target – either for you personally, or as part of a group. We recommend challenge targets of 5 or 10km, but you are free to choose whatever distance works best for you and your preferred travel mode!
- Encourage friends and family to sponsor you, and help you reach your goal – you will be given a unique and personalised donation link to help you reach your own fundraising goal. This will help you track all donations made in support of your challenge efforts. There will be prizes for the participants who raise the greatest number of donations!
- Get moving – by whatever mode of travel you prefer (walking, running, swimming, by wheelchair or any carbon-free method of travel).
Once you sign up to take part, you will be sent further information on how to submit your distances.

Why 6,490km?
6,490km is the walking distance from Lucy Cavendish to the venue of the COP28 Summit in Dubai, taking place 30 November – 12 December 2023.
How do I sign up?
Please sign up via the initial registration form here. You will then receive further information on accessing your personalised fundraising link (via the Festival’s ambassador portal) along with hints and tips on how to raise funds and achieve your distance goals.
How will I keep track of my distance travelled?
On registration we will share tips and advice on how to use your smartphone to keep track of your distances.
My mode of transport is not listed, can it still count?
As long as your travel is carbon-free, it counts!
