Fred Alford is a researcher in general relativity. He is currently researching Hawking radiation - this is the radiation given off by black holes due to interesting quantum effects in their formation. Fred is a Senior Heilbronn Research Fellow at the University. He obtained a PhD in mathematics from Cambridge in April 2022.
He also continues to supervise at several Cambridge colleges.
