Dr Marcus Redley holds research posts at the University of Cambridge and the University of East Anglia. His academic background is in the social sciences, with specialist knowledge in qualitative research methods. Much of his research has focused on the lives of men and women with intellectual disabilities. These efforts, which have straddled both health inequalities and social inclusion have included studies of well-being, supported eating and drinking; epilepsy management; and access to secondary and specialist healthcare; citizenship and voting rights; adult safeguarding; advocacy; the Mental Capacity (England & Wales) Act 2005, as well as the conceptualisation of disability. Other areas he has researched include suicidal behaviour, and decision-making in couple households. Outside of his academic work, Marcus is a keen rower, he sculls, coaches, and coxes when required.
