Joanna Hewitt was appointed Mayor of Sandy Town in 2023. She is Chair and Non-Executive Director of Youth Inspired, a community organisation that works to support young people with learning difficulties develop and mature towards an independent adult life. (In 2012 the organisation expanded, extending delivery to adult learners and those with mental health conditions.) Joanna is also a fundraising patron of Age UK’s Disconnected Mind Appeal, a world-leading project researching how our thinking skills change with age and what we can do to protect them in later life. From 2009-2015 she was part of a business advisory group for the Blond McIndoe Research Foundation, and she was a trustee/church warden of St James’ Church from 2010-2016. Joanna is an experienced private banker; from 2010-2014, she was a Private Banker and Head of Philanthropy for C. Hoare and Co (a UK private bank), and was a Private Banker at Barclays prior to this.
