First Cambridge College to receive a donation in Ethereum
Lucy Cavendish College was happy to receive its first gift in Ethereum (ETH), marking yet another Cambridge first for the College.
On the 8th of March, 2022, the College was happy to receive its first gift in bitcoin (BTC), marking a significant milestone in the College’s history.
Cryptocurrency is a string of encrypted data that represents a digital currency. Bitcoin is currently the most well-known and most valuable form of cryptocurrency.
The crypto industry has been one of the fastest-growing markets in our lifetimes. Just ten years ago, the crypto market was worth around $1.5 billion. Today, it is worth almost $1.5 trillion.
Cryptocurrency, and its underlying decentralised blockchain infrastructure, is reimagining the future of money. It is innovative, disruptive, and it’s unlocking many new opportunities for the pioneers of Web 3.0.
“We were delighted to receive our gift and we will continue to develop our systems for receipt of donations via cryptocurrency and other innovative technologies in the future.”, notes Lesley Thompson, Bursar at Lucy Cavendish College.
