Fran Brosan wins the 2023 Florence Staniforth Student Fiction Prize

Four enthralling stories from students across different disciplines scooped £100 prizes.
Writing is central to the College's history and its mission today. Together with the prestigious Lucy Cavendish Fiction Prize, whose winner was announced at tonight’s ceremony (link to article), the College runs several writing prizes for its own students, under its Writing Centre umbrella.
The Lucy Cavendish College Writing Centre celebrates the best in creative and nonfiction writing in Britain today and brings together a wide range of College resources for teaching, learning, and enrichment in creative and academic writing.

Fellow Dr Chris Macdonald says, “In addition to the Student Fiction Prize, we launched two new writing prizes this year as the Lucy Cavendish College Writing Centre continues to expand and we were delighted to see a diverse range of creative and thoughtful entries. Congratulations to our winners!”

Entries have come from students in a wide range of disciplines and degree courses, which speaks to the interdisciplinary and far-reaching nature of the writing we hope to foster at Lucy”
