Reece D'Souza's band secured Cambridge Club Festival spotlight.
In a thrilling display of musical talent, the band Quasar has emerged victorious in the University of Cambridge's 'Take it to the Bridge' battle of the bands competition.
'Take it to the Bridge', organised by The Centre for Music Performance, provides a platform for student musicians to showcase their talents and compete for high-profile performance opportunities. This year's competition featured fierce contenders.
Quasar, with Reece D'Souza on vocals, brought a fresh mix of hip-hop and jazz to the competition. Their collaborative spirit, drawing talent from across six Cambridge colleges, ultimately led them to victory with an energetic and captivating performance.
Reece says, “We are so grateful to have won the competition and appreciate everyone involved in making the night what it was. Being up against the best of the Cambridge student bands was not an easy challenge but thankfully we came out on top, and we did it in style!”
Quasar's win highlights the diversity of Cambridge's music scene. Their performance promises to be a highlight at the Cambridge Club Festival, where they will perform alongside superstars like Chaka Khan and Jessie Ware.
Congratulations to Quasar and to the other finalists, East Street on a Tit, Soft Crunchy Landing and Temor, a band featuring another Lucy student, Wynn Tasker (on drums), which blends classic jazz with grooves, drawing inspiration from classical to Latin American music.
Reaching the final of the competition was a great achievement, and the quality of all four performances was extraordinary.
