Adrian received the award in recognition of his involvement with last year's Coronation ceremony.
The Reverend Canon Adrian Daffern, former Fellow of the College, and now a Senior Associate, was invested with the King’s Coronation Medal (KCM) in a ceremony conducted by the Lord-Lieutenant of London, Sir Kenneth Olisa OBE, on February 12th.
The award, made with the approval of His Majesty, was in recognition of Adrian’s involvement with last years’ Coronation ceremony. Adrian was the principal author of new texts for the service; and he was present as one of the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Chaplains.
An ordained Anglican priest for over 30 years, Adrian was Vicar of the University Church in Cambridge, better known as Great St Mary's, from 2018-2022. He now works for the Church of England at its London headquarters as Senior Cathedral and Major Church Buildings Officer. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists, a Life Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, and, earlier this year, was awarded the Freedom of the City of London.
Adrian says: "It was a delight and a privilege to be a part of the planning and writing of the King’s Coronation. I hope that people will not only remember the pageantry and pomp, but also the themes of love and service which were at the heart of it all."
