Helping our students make the most of Cambridge for less.

At Lucy Cavendish College, we understand the rising cost of living is having an impact on our students and their university experience, so over the summer we instituted a working group composed of staff and student representatives to come up with solutions to help save them some money during their time at College, making sure they get discounts and free of charge items and events, from academic gowns, to food and entertainment.

Students will have access to sanitary products free of charge, as well as a discount on the purchase of academic gowns, will be able to participate in inclusive social events in College with a free meal included (once per month during term time), and to benefit of free fruit, meal deals and reduced prices in hall and in the new café and bar.

Thanks to the generosity of donors during LucyGives Giving Week 2022, funding is available to students for extra- and co-curricular activities, such as academic conferences or field trips, career- and enterprise-related courses, societies, subscription fees, and sports kits.

Related events have also been organised during Bridging Week. Freshers will be able to drop in and speak to our Student Finance Officer who will help students fill in forms if they think they are eligible for funding, and also offer general financial advice. Our Catering Department will perform a cooking demonstration, and will give students free access to a recipe book containing many of our much-loved Dining Hall favourites.

Throughout the year, students are invited to attend a variety of wellbeing-themed activities free of charge.

We hope all these initiatives will enable our students to make the most of their time at Cambridge, having the best possible university experience without financial concerns, as well as benefiting their wellbeing.
