What the Foundation supports
Established the Ernest Hecht Science Studentship and the Ernest Hecht Studentship for Mature Women, to be awarded yearly in perpetuity
Why the Ernest Hecht Charitable Foundation supports Lucy
The Ernest Hecht Charitable Foundation was founded to ‘make a difference’ in the lives of the disadvantaged, as well as promoting the arts and education.
Mr Ernest Hecht OBE was born in 1929 in Moravia, Czechoslovakia and came to England as a young ‘Kindertransport’ refugee just before World War II. Ernest Hecht was proud of his association with the College and loved to meet and hear about the lives of those fortunate students who received support from his Foundation.
Ernest Hecht’s legacy will last in perpetuity at Lucy Cavendish, thanks to his Charitable Foundation’s generosity in establishing the Ernest Hecht Science Studentship and the Ernest Hecht Studentship for Mature Women in 2020.
