Ashan is a Research Associate with the Laing O'Rourke Centre for Construction Engineering and Technology of the Department of Engineering.

He’s trying to understand how new ways of building things affect how fast and well construction work gets done; to find ways to make construction faster and better. Improving construction performance will further help make construction more friendly to the environment, and make sure workers are safe. This project envisions making construction in the UK better and more sustainable by working closely with its many proponents.

He has obtained his doctorate in building sciences from the National University of Singapore. He has years of experience in built environment as a researcher in safety and maintainability of buildings, as well as a practitioner in various stages of construction project delivery.
