LLM student, Jorge Velazquez, attended Moot Court on International Commercial Arbitration.
With its 30th edition held in Vienna last Spring, the Willem Vis C. Moot Court is a competition for law students to foster the study and practice of international commercial sales law and arbitration.
Jorge was able to attend the event thanks to the funds raised during our 2022 Giving Week.
“The award allowed me to cover the round plane ticket London-Vienna, and Vienna-London, and a week of public transportation ticket for Vienna.
All the main law firms in the world that deal with arbitration matters, mention on their vacancies that those candidates who have participated in the Vis Moot will have preference.
The award granted added value to my academic journey by helping me to attend. Besides, in Vienna I was able to meet practitioners from different countries with which I have networked. I was invited to several dinners and social events, including the “UK arbitrators’ dinner” where I met senior practitioners and talked about possible job openings.
I hope that such connections will have a positive impact in my professional career.
