Students greatly benefit from the many enriching co- and extra- curricular activities available at university.

Lucy Cavendish Lucy Cavendish encourages all students to make the most of the rich ecosystem of extra-curricular opportunities available at Cambridge. These activities complement their academic experience, improve well-being and help students develop the leadership skills their future employers require. They promote an enterprising mindset: a way of thinking that enables students to spot and seize new opportunities to create positive impact and see them through to implementation – whatever their future career may be.

However, few students from under-represented backgrounds can afford to participate without financial aid.

Through your generosity, we will grow the Making the Most of Cambridge Fund so that students, irrespective of financial capacity, can access and benefit from the many enriching activities available at university. The fund, established by LucyGives supporters in 2020, has already enabled 58 students to take part in activities such as language courses, football, badminton, volleyball, clarinet and singing lessons, or to pay for membership of the Cambridge Union Society, the University Sports Centre, the College Boat Club and the ski and snowboard club.

Your support will enable students to take part in subject-focussed societies, academic conferences and field trips - unrivalled opportunities to extend learning beyond the scope of lectures, supervisions and lab classes. Activities including volunteering, professional workshops, short career- and enterprise-related courses, sports teams, drama or music groups and other societies allow students to experience their subject in real world contexts, supplementing their knowledge and mastering the skills they need to achieve their best possible performance at Tripos and beyond.

A donation of £25 covers a student’s life membership of the Cambridge Medical Society

A donation of £80 ensures a student can take part in the highly acclaimed Venture Creation Weekend short course in Entrepreneurialism at the Cambridge Judge Business School

A donation of £100 covers the average annual subscription fees to University level sports clubs

A donation of £130 ensures a third year undergraduate Earth Scientist or fourth year Physicist can join their peers on an 8-day Plate Tectonics field trip

A donation of £150 covers the costs of sports kit for a member of the College football team

A donation of £285 enables a student to take part in a short Language course to strengthen their CV

By donating to the Making the Most of Cambridge Fund you will ensure all Lucy students can seek out opportunities to enhance their academic experience, improve their well-being and develop the skills they need to make a positive difference in their future careers.
