Lucy Cavendish College’s bespoke career initiative offers students support and guidance at all stages of their career development in college.

All Lucy students have extraordinary academic potential, and with the help of our unique Student Support Programmes have the opportunity to achieve the results they deserve.

But students from marginalised and disadvantaged groups often lack the confidence, networks and interview skills of their peers and the data shows that – despite their talent – they are less likely to progress into meaningful careers.

At Lucy Cavendish we want to level the playing field. Our Careers Programme provides engagement activities aimed at building strong, mutually beneficial relationships with businesses and organisations which believe in inclusivity and diversity. The Programme has been designed in consultation with the University’s Careers Service, and includes activities such as speed mentoring, sector-focused events and career workshops.

With your support we will go even further. We will provide grants to support students with the costs of living, accommodation and transport associated with work shadowing and internship opportunities. We will expand our collection of vital careers resources so final year students can best prepare themselves for job applications and interviews.

A gift of £20 ensures we can purchase another book for our collection of careers support resources in the College Library

A gift of £30 covers the cost of a day return ticket to London so that a student can take part in a work-shadowing opportunity

A gift of £750 would support a student with accommodation costs enabling them to take part in a week-long internship

A gift of £1000 would enable us to treble the number of careers support resources available in the College Library

By supporting Optimising Students’ Futures you will help us close the gap in careers progression, ensuring Lucy students receive the same professional opportunities as their more financially and socially privileged peers. They will be equipped with the networks, knowledge and experience to become outstanding members of the international workforce.

What is LucyGives?
