Lucy Cavendish College, part of the University of Cambridge, is seeking to appoint a driven individual who shares our values to support the delivery of our flagship outreach programme: the Academic Attainment Programme (AAP).

As the first Cambridge College to admit over 90% of UK students from state schools, Lucy Cavendish is committed to widening participation in Higher Education. Our flagship outreach initiative, the AAP, empowers students from disadvantaged and underrepresented backgrounds to achieve their full potential. Over the last three years, the AAP has supported over 2,000 students to raise their attainment and confidence to optimise their A-Level (Scottish Highers and Advanced Highers/IB) results and university application success. The College is now looking to develop the programme further and is seeking a talented and passionate individual who wants to make a contribution through this historically successful and unique initiative.

As Outreach Assistant, you will support the Outreach Manager with the planning, administration, delivery and evaluation of the AAP as it undergoes a major expansion. Through your work, you will raise the profile of the College, promoting Lucy Cavendish to potential undergraduate applicants and working with schools, colleges, students and third party organisations to inspire and support more young people from diverse backgrounds to apply to the most selective HE institutions, including Cambridge. You will also support the Deputy Admissions Director and the Undergraduate Admissions and Outreach Officer with the administration of the admissions round from October to January.

With a professional and outgoing approach, you will be confident working with young people and have excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. You will also be willing to work on your own initiative and as part of a small team and have a flexible and collaborative approach to tasks. A good understanding of the range of courses offered at Cambridge is essential along with knowledge of the UK secondary education sector. You will be required to travel to promote Lucy Cavendish to potential sources of undergraduate applicants and to arrange events in College. In addition, you will have strong IT skills and have the ability to manage statistical data, producing reports as appropriate.

An Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service will be required before the successful applicant is appointed.
